University of Florida students have two choices when it comes to dorms: older traditional dorms or a private luxury dorm. Ivy House is one of the only private luxury dorms for University of Florida students. Luxury dorms offer many advantages over traditional dorms, and they're a better value. Ivy House is closer to classes, libraries, dining halls, and sorority row than many of the traditional dorms. Rooms are up to 30% larger and placement into your chosen floorplan is guaranteed (unlike traditional dorms, where you won't know what building you'll be in until after the cancellation deadline). Your child can choose from Single, Double, or Triple room floorplans. The luxury dorms were 80% freshmen last year. It's the TRUE freshmen dorm experience-- only better, with newer, nicer, and bigger rooms. Plus, they're less expensive than most traditional dorm room options.
The Ivy House is the only female-only dorm for University of Florida Students. Is your daughter planning on joining a sorority? Ivy House is the CLOSEST dorm to University of Florida sorority row. Ivy house residents can choose from attached or shared bathrooms, most rooms share a bathroom with neighboring rooms. The shared bathrooms, large living room, spacious gourmet kitchen, and formal greeting area make Ivy House feel like sorority house living. Single, Double, and Triple dorm rooms are offered.

We offer students more than a just a place to sleep between classes. The luxury dorms were designed to encourage students to meet each other. 98% of University of Florida students surveyed said that living in a dorm like Ivy House assisted them in meeting other students. We want our students to have a positive, enriching experience while they go to school. College isn't just about what students learn in class, it's also about developing independent living and decision making skills. We want every student to have a well-rounded college experience that will help propel them towards a successful future.
Dorm life supports a smooth transition from living at home to living away from parents for the first time. Versus an apartment, dorms are an easier "middle step" where everything is managed for the student in one monthly bill. Plus, with individual liability, they are not responsible if their dorm-mate does not pay their housing fees. Each dorm room includes a furniture package designed to fit in the space. In addition, we provide important services that students need when they are moving out of their parent's house or the first time like 24 hours lockout service, a system for any noise complaints which might occur, and 24 hour emergency maintenance, in case a student clogs a toilet or accidentally breaks a door handle in the middle of the night. Residents also have unlimited access to blazing fast 1000MB/second Hi-Speed Ethernet included in their fees--- that's helpful for online lectures, quizzes, and tests (even for streaming television shows and YouTube videos).
Services for your students in the luxury dorms don't end at 5pm. We have a team member available 24/7 to assist residents. We understand the importance of proper maintenance, and our goal is to complete submitted service requests within 24 hours of our maintenance office receiving them (and sooner whenever possible). We strive to provide timely, professional service to students who call the luxury dorms home. We also manage all the bills (electric, water, cable, Ethernet, pest control, garbage service, maid service in the common areas, etc) so that your daughter can focus on what's important: school and her extra-curricular activities.
You've probably heard the only cliché that you get what you pay for. That doesn't quite apply to us. In reality, our dorms are bigger, newer, closer to classes, and they're cheaper than traditional dorm alternatives. You get the best possible value. You can check it out for yourself by viewing our rates and availability.
Students living in the luxury dorms can choose to utilize the University of Florida meal plan. Students living in Ivy House are eligible for the same meal plans as students living in traditional dorms like Broward, Beaty, Hume Hall, Jennings, Infinity, etc. They additionally qualify for "commuter" meal-plans too which are less expensive than the meal plans for traditional dorm residents. Students can also choose to save money by cooking and eating in the dorm room or by using less expensive meal plans that offer less meals. They can also do both! It's up to you and your student to find the perfect balance for them.
Many students living in the luxury dorms also choose to rush (also known as joining a sorority). Lunch and dinner meals are included in the cost of joining a sorority (these fees are known as 'dues'). Ivy House is located MUCH closer to sorority row than most traditional dorms. They won't need the meal plan if they end up joining a Greek organization.
There is no doubt about it: the luxury dorms will save you money. Check out the comparison of Ivy House above to see which dorm you think is a better fit for you and your student, or you can request more info and we'll help you figure out which one better fits your needs. When surveyed, Ivy House was the #1 most recommended dorm for female freshmen. Ivy House is also a great fit for some students. It's a female-only dorm with single, double, and triple rooms. At Ivy House, most rooms share a bathroom with neighboring rooms.
NOTHING has a bigger impact during the college transition than having a roommate who is a good fit. That's why we designed an expert roommate matching system that seeks to match students based on their lifestyle, study habits, and personality profile. Is your daughter clean? Messy? A morning person? A night owl? How does he/she feel about alcohol? Finding a good roommate is particularly challenging for University of Florida students because it's a party school. When selecting a traditional dorm, students have a very brief window in which they can choose their roommates, otherwise they are assigned a RANDOM roommate. Unfortunately, many students log on Facebook and find someone who they THINK they may get along with but often the opposite is true. Our roommate matching is so successful that we have more roommate problems from students who pick their own roommates. Students in the luxury dorms can sign up with their friends as long as we have a space available in their room size and building.
To help make your move in process smoother, here are some items we suggest you bring:
Room: computer, study lamp, TV if desired (many students use their computer monitors), hangers, pillows, bedding, accent pillow, laundry basket, laundry detergent (there's a laundry room on each floor)
Kitchen: dishes and utensils, paper towels, trash bags
Bathroom: towels, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer.
The luxury dorms offer all the advantages of the traditional dorms, but they also offer unique features that the traditional dorms don't offer. Plus, they are closer to University of Florida classes, bigger, newer, nicer, and they are less expensive. Ivy House offers single, double, and triple rooms. A recent University of Florida student survey found that Ivy House was the #1 most recommended dorm for freshmen women.
